Volunteer Interest
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer! The animals and staff thank you for your time, attention, affection and love, and that is exactly where your efforts are best focused and appreciated. With that in mind, we are all here, first and foremost, for the animals and the volunteer program at our shelter is organized with their best interests in mind.
In order to volunteer at our shelter, you must be at least 21 years old and feel comfortable handling animals. Our volunteer hours are between 11am and 4:30pm every day. All animals must be back to their places no later than 4:30pm for final counts and dinner. There are no minimum or maximum hours required.
If you do choose to become a volunteer, there are many areas in which you may participate. If you are a dog lover, we have many dogs in our care who look forward to taking a long walk, or sitting on a couch, with our volunteers. Cat lovers are welcome to spend time in any of our 7 cat rooms or socialize, either in the cage or on a couch, with any of our lobby cats. We also have small animals: rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and sometimes birds who all benefit from love, attention, and tasty treats. And of course you are more than welcome to volunteer in more than one area.
